# What is Authentik & How to login

## What is Authentik?

Authentik is the **DC Tech staff sign-in system**. It provides a single place to sign in to many of the applications and services you use at work.

Instead of remembering a separate username and password for every supported application, you can use your **DC Tech account** through Authentik.

## Two Ways You May See Authentik

There are two common ways to use Authentik.

### 1. An Application Sends You to Authentik

When you open an application that uses DC Tech's single sign-on, the application may automatically redirect you to the **Authentik login page**.

1. Open the application you need.
2. If you are not already signed in, you will be redirected to Authentik.
3. Enter your **DC Tech username and password**.
4. Complete any additional verification if requested.
5. After signing in, Authentik will automatically send you back to the application you were trying to access.

You do **not** need to sign in separately to Authentik first.

If you are already signed in to Authentik, the application may open automatically without asking for your password again.

</div>### 2. Open Authentik First

You can also open the **DC Tech Authentik Staff Portal** directly.

After signing in, you will see the applications that have been assigned to your account.

This is especially useful when you:

- Need to open a staff application but **do not know or remember its web address**.
- Want one place to find your available company applications.
- Need to switch between several applications.
- Want to see which applications you currently have access to.

Simply select the application from the Authentik portal, and Authentik will open it for you.

## Your Applications

The applications shown in Authentik are based on your account and permissions.

You may see applications for:

**Core Applications**  
Frequently used applications available to staff.

**DC Tech, DC Tech Security, Northstar Connectivity, R12 Services LLC**  
Applications and services related to each business.

**Servers &amp; Tools / Infrastructure**  
Administrative and technical tools. These applications are only displayed to staff who have the appropriate permissions.

Not every employee will see the same applications.

## Important

**Never share your DC Tech password with another employee.**

Your Authentik account may provide access to multiple company systems. Always sign in using **your own account** so that access and activity are associated with the correct employee.

If an application you need is missing from Authentik, you receive an **Access Denied** message, or your login is not working, contact **your system administrator** for assistance.

## Quick Summary

**Opening an application directly?**  
If it uses Authentik, it can redirect you to Authentik to sign in and then return you to the application.

**Don't know the application's link?**  
Open the Authentik Staff Portal, sign in, and select the application from your available apps.

**Already signed in?**  
Many supported applications can recognize your Authentik session and let you continue without entering your password again.
